Indiana Scholarships

Scholarships for College
We have currently established three named scholarships: the Paul E. Carey Scholarship, the Durell Dancy Scholarship and the Willie Ivy, Jr. Memorial Scholarship. These scholarships will award minority students the opportunity to obtain higher education and attend college. We are seeking more scholarships to be funded. The scholarships will target those students who have a strong desire to attend a college or a university. These scholarships will hopefully encourage students to have the willingness to obtain postsecondary education.

After School Tutor/Mentor Program
We have established a group of young people willing to dedicate a few hours a week to help tutor students who may be struggling in areas such as: mathematics, science and English. The foundation strives to better our youth by creating opportunities for them to learn, and to become better students. The Ian Smith Foundation will begin tutoring students at the Municipal Gardens Family Center. The tutoring will be offered on Monday and Wednesday of every week from 5pm-7pm. We assure you that our tutors will bring out the best in your students.

Annual Youth/Teen Summit
The Ian Smith Foundation hosts annual back-to-school youth/teen summits. These youth summits will expose young people to successful people who have overcome many obstacles to become successful. These young people will have front row seats to hear these wonderful stories that will hopefully encourage young people in the community. Many young students growing up in the ‘inner city’ lose sight of their dreams and need encouragement and testimonies from people with backgrounds similar to theirs who have experienced what they are going through. This teen summit will hopefully put the young people back in sight of their dreams.
