Durell Dancy is a graduate from Arsenal Technical High School, class of 2003. While attending Aresenal Technical H.S., Dancy noticed the lack of multicultural students interested in pursuing higher education and promised to make a difference one day. Dancy, 25, one of the directors of the Ian Smith Foundation decided to be that difference and start a scholarship. One day, through the foundation, Dancy hopes to have a considerable impact on young people lives, in the community.

This Scholarship is awarded to the student who meets the following criteria:

  • First time college student
  • Punctual
  • Involved in athletics or other extracurricular activities
  • Volunteer experience
  • Submit a completed application
  • Submit proof of enrollment or acceptance at a community or junior college, college or university

The scholarship is merit based and test scores such as the SAT/ACT are highly recommended for this award. Advanced placement and honors courses receive special attention. The dollar amount for this scholarship varies.
